2022 participant John is a highly motivated, forward-thinking individual who we are proud to introduce as one of Project Azul’s success stories.

Before connecting with Project Azul, John was unemployed and unable to find a job or training opportunity that would hire him due to his recent involvement with the justice system. After his most recent incarceration, John made the decision to restructure his life and focus on developing his skills and career. When other opportunities turned him away, John didn’t give up hope and continued his search, determined to improve his situation for himself and his 15-month-old son. During his search, John came across Project Azul through his involvement with FSSA’s IMPACT program- one of Project Azul’s partner organizations.

John was able to enroll and participate in Project Azul’s Team Lead Training in June 2022.Early in the training, John established himself as a natural and dedicated leader, growing his skills through the two-day course. Upon completion of the training, Project Azul was able to provide career coaching and assistance with job placement, as well as basic needs support, helping him to obtain temporary housing and transportation.

With this support, John was able to secure a job as a Hiring Manager for warehouse personnel at a nonprofit organization, earning a wage of $20/hr. Within a month of connecting with Project Azul for the first time, John was able to improve his circumstances and get a new start for himself and his son. About his experience, he writes, “I am so thankful for Project Azul and will continue to be a positive example of the time, patience, understanding, and resources that you have invested in me.”
